✥ faqs
Remember to read the background and general information as well as the how to play and rules before you ask any questions. Below are a list of frequently asked questions.

Q: Powers and magic - do they exist?
A: No, they do not. Only Luce and half-breeds have advanced abilities but they do not have special powers nor magic. God powers, such as time control and touch-instant death kills are a big no-no.

Q: Can my character die?
A: Yes, they can die. But they can also be revived. Since Warspol has advanced technology, scientists have figured out a way to revive someone from the dead. But due to the war, this technology is very limited, especially for humans. Thus if your character dies, they'll only be revived three times. If your character dies more than three times, then they are considered dead as well as officially dropped. You are more than welcome to re-apply for this character again but keep in mind that you must rewrite a completely different history than you did before. So essentially, they're considered a different character with just the same name and face.

Q: Duplicate characters, like how Final Fantasy characters can appear in Kingdom Hearts, etc. Are different people allowed to apply for both?
A: Yes, different people are allowed to apply for both. As long as the characters have a different history and their personalities differ enough that they essentially sound like different people, then it is fine. However, keep in mind that different personalities does not mean an allowance for OOC RPing. And yes, if you and your friend collaborate and decide to make these characters twins or something like that, then that is fine as well. Just please let us know in your application.

Q: Can the leaders, such as the Big Five or the human leaders, be female?
A: Yes! Each of the leaders can be either gender. Though we described most of them to be male and the Voice to be female, their genders are completely reversible.

Q: What about player-run plots? What do I do if I want to run a community-wide plot?
A: If you really want to run some major big plot, first ask one of the mods and we'll discuss it. If we approve of the plot, then by all means go ahead and run it~ If we think it's too big, we'll probably just ask you to change a few things so it isn't do drastic.

Q: What about health care? What if my character gets injured or sick? What do I do?
A: If it's something minor like a scratch or a cut, first aid is available to everyone so that's not so much of a big deal. However if it is something bigger than that like a huge injury or a terrible sickness, then it is a completely different story. The Luce are in a better position to take care of that due to high technology and a better standard of hygiene but humans will have a tougher time. There is a medical hospital in the Underground but most of the time they are taking care of wounded soldiers and use most of their resources on them or on the really sick people. So unless you're dying, you're going to have to deal with it. If you want, you can sneak up to Fuori and try to get supplies there but it is rather risky.

Q: What kind of jobs/employment are available?
A: If you're a Luce, you can work at Libertà under the Luce di Umanità and their five departments. If you're a human, you can work for the army. There are other jobs that are available as well. You could run a store in the Main Plaza or the marketplace in the Underground. You could run a school or a restaurant. All of sorts of things, really. If your character does decide to run a major store/restaurant then please let one of the mods know.

Q:: What happens if a character is dropped and I want to apply for that character? Am I bound to what the previous player did with that character?
A: No, you are not bound by what the previous player did with that character. If a character is dropped, you are more than welcome to apply for that character. However, you'll have to write a different history for that character. Thus, you're essentially playing a person with the same name and face but with a different history, making that character a different person altogether.

• The Voice

If you are going to apply for one of these characters, you must have prior RP experience on LJ beforehand. Please provide a few links to where you have previously RPed so we can determine if you have enough experience to play these major characters. If your character has been accepted for one of these positions, you are not allowed to apply for another position. Example: if you have been accepted for Big Five #2, then you are not allowed to apply for any of the other Big Fives nor any of the human leaders..

✥ general information
The City
Welcome to Warspol - the demolished city. Warspol was once a beautiful, isolated city driven by advanced technology and filled with skyscrapers. What was once considered the world's most advanced city is now a pile of rubble and nothing more than a devastated wasteland. The buildings at the center of the city have mostly been reduced to debris. Buildings that remain standing are slowly crumbling and wasting away. The only building that continues to remain sky-high and well maintained is Libertà, the Luce di Umanità's headquarters, which is in the dead center of Warspol. In front of the Libertà is the main plaza which is also fairly well kept. The plaza contains a wide variety of stores which the Luce has access to, from clothes boutiques to grocery stores. As we move further away from the center of the city, we come to the residence area known as Fuori. Though Fuori has not been spared from the effects of war and a significant portion of it has been demolished as a result, there are plenty of houses and apartment complexes that are still intact. Typical residents of such houses include Luce or humans, who have subjected themselves willingly to the Luce rule and are thus spared from death, if only momentarily. Humans, who try to pass themselves off as Luce in order to live as well as to obtain information on the enemy, can also be found here, albeit in very small numbers . Since the only Luce who are able to tell a human and a Luce apart are the Big Five, most of the time these humans are not caught. However, due to the high and pervasive amount of security within Fuori, the chances of being undetected is low and only the bravest - or most foolish - would dare take the chance. The rest of Warspol which surrounds Libertà and Fuori is known as the War Zone. The War Zone is basically the rest of the demolished city with the roads stained with blood. The air here reeks of the stench from uncleared rotting corpses and there are fires almost everywhere. There are only a few hours of the day where the War Zone is quiet and somewhat peaceful, as most times, bloody battles are going on in parts of the War Zone and the firing of guns and yells of war can sometimes be heard, even by the residents of Fuori.

The city's security is tight due to the war. Security guards will ask for an identification card that was given to the Luce once they were created. Even on a shopping trip, one is not exempted from these procedures. The humans who live in Warspol and try to pass themselves off as Luce are in possession of fake identification cards which they have obtained from the Underground.

The Underground
The Underground - directly underground of Warspol and where most humans resides nowadays. Its purpose was to serve a temporary hiding spot from the Luce Army, and now it is the living sanctuary for the human race. Though the Underground is not as big as Warspol, it has slowly has expanded over the past twenty years and can be considered an underground city. A large portion of the Underground is farmland. The farmland is made up of false soil, developed by the scientist using what limited sources they had underground, and people are able to grow inorganic plants with it. Though these consumables are inferior compared to the food humans used to enjoy twenty years ago, it is still a source of food and provides just enough nutrition for the entire human population. Closer to the center of the Underground lies a small town. In the living complex, a few miles away from the farmland, people live in small mud huts. People have managed to build a few houses in the living complex but since resources are rare, only large families have the privilege of staying within these houses. In the center of the living complex is the marketplace. The marketplace is the only place where humans are able to get food from the farmers and luckily, most of the time the food is free. Occasionally, stall owners may sell supplies, either smuggled in by humans living in Fuori or from the occasional kind-hearted Luce, which tends to go for the price of a few dollars or higher. For humans who choose to reside in Fuori, fake identification cards can be easily gotten so that they may pass through simple security checks with no problem. In the middle of the marketplace is the park, which is a popular meeting place with residents due to its central location and due to the nostalgia factor, along with the human army headquarters.

There are a few ways to get from Warspol to the Underground. Most of these entrances are located near the outskirts of the War Zone out of the Luce's detection. There are a few entrances that are accessible within Fuori as well. Most of these entrances are located in the homes of humans who are pretending to be Luce as well as the few Luce who are on humankind's side and believe that both groups are equal. Obviously, these entrances are more risky to access but currently, they have somehow managed to conceal these entrances from the Luce di Umanità.

The People
Luce di Umanità - the Light of Humanity. Originally created as a group of five transhuman soldiers, their purpose was to serve in Warspol's military and protect the residents of the city that gave them life. Possessing characteristics and capabilities that far surpass those of normal humans, they were hailed as the future of humanity, the supposed 'next step of human evolution'.

In the beginning, the Luce di Umanità, or Luce as they would later come to be known as, unfailingly fulfilled their roles as the bulwarks of the city. However, the controversy surrounding their births and their inscription into the military did not die down. If anything, the discussion and fighting over their necessity as soldiers intensified. Naysayers began playing on the public's fears of how the Luce would eventually replace the normal humans, as their enhanced abilities would allow them to excel in things as simple as school work and sports to important tasks such as leading entire companies. Optimists countered by portraying the Luce as well-meaning partners - saviors, even - of humanity who would spur their normal counterparts to work harder and better themselves.

No matter how advanced they were, the Luce were, in the end, still human. As they worked and risked their lives for the population of Warspol, they began to develop emotions.

Confusion, over the never-ending conflicts that humanity willingly fought despite its claims to eradicate it.

Annoyance due to their feeling unappreciated, as the population they sought to protect began to fear them and despise them instead.

Most of all, arrogance, for they started realizing that they were far more powerful and intelligent than their own creators. Although they were created in the latter's likeness, they were superior. Why, then, were they following orders from these inferior people?

Unanimously, they passed judgment - the biggest threat to humanity was itself. Humans were foolish and ignorant, too ready to resort to violence to protect their own ideals and property. Eliminating the human race and replacing the population with superior beings such as themselves was the most effective way of vanquishing conflict and war for good.

Having discovered their new reason to fight, they embarked on their last war, their targets being the human population of Warspol. Their estimation was that the war would end within 5 years.

It has been 20 years, and the Luce are still fighting.

Luce - The 'advanced' species of humans. The Luce have managed to take over the entirety of Warspol. Most of the Luce were at one point humans but captured by the Luce di Umanità and turned into a Luce. Most Luce had also had their memories as humans erased and have developed a strong hatred for these inferior beings. However, there are a few Luce who do remember the times when they were human. There are also a good number of Luce who believe that what the Luce di Umanità is doing is wrong and that humans have as much right to exist and live their lives as the Luce themselves. Some of these Luce have been helping out humans and are the reason why humans are able to access electricity, military supplies and advanced technology underground. Just as there are humans who think differently, there are Luce who think differently as well.

The Luce population has been slowly getting bigger recently - not through the extermination of humans however but through reproduction.

Humans - The dying race of Warspol. Most reside underground so that the Luce will not find them and exterminate them. There are a few who still live in Warspol itself but many do not take the risk of going back up due to the tight security. However, every now and then, people will go back up with their fake identification and most of the time, they don't get caught since security has no real way of telling who is a Luce and who isn't unless they just find the person to be suspicious. Like stated before, the only people who are able to tell are the Big Five.

Just like there are Luce who willingly betray the Luce di Umanità, there are humans who have no qualms about betraying their own race. There are a few humans who believe that the chances of winning the war are so slim that they should give up and not squander precious resources fighting a losing battle. There are also humans who believe that being under Luce control is not as bad as the majority of humanity make it out to be and some believe it so strongly that they are willing to betray their own race. Sometimes, the Luce di Umanità are kind enough to spare these human lives, if only for a short while.

Human Army - The army of the humans - those who have been fighting for their freedom for the last twenty years. The ones who are fighting for the rights of humans in this world. Those who are in the army will die an honorable death. The army is led by four important leaders: the General, the Lieutenant, the Chief, and the Voice. They continue to give hope to the human race and help them believe that even though the chances of victory is very small, as long as an opportunity exists, they will take that opportunity to win this war and return to Warspol and restore it to its former glory. In the army, there is a group of scientists who are constantly working and trying to find a way to undo the problem which they have created.

Half-breed - A breed that is both human and Luce - resulting from the copulation of a human and a Luce. Though they are rare, they do exist and they despise the war. Most feel hatred towards both races as they are disliked immensely by both sides. To the Luce, they are considered a disgrace and are just as low as humans for only pure-breed Luce are superior. To the humans, they fear them because of their fear of the Luce. However, humans are more likely to accept them because of their common hatred towards the Luce and with time, humans have come to allow the half-breeds to stay underground with them. However, most of these half-breeds live in Fuori because once again, no one, besides the Big Five, can accurately distinguish them from a normal human or a normal Luce. Half-breeds also have advanced abilities as well but they are significantly weaker than the abilities of pure Luce.

The year is 2030 and mankind has made the greatest mistake that they've regretted for twenty years. What was once supposed to be an advancement in human technology became the deadliest weapon alive. They are called Luce di Umanità and they have conquered the once peaceful, isolated city of Warspol, deeming the human race a threat to the World's existence. For twenty years, the human population of Warspol has been at war against these 'super humans' but they have been reduced to a bare minimum now, the Luce di Umanità having captured around seventy-five percent of Warspol population and turning them into super humans as well. However, hope still remains strong within the human population and with its strong leadership, they have been able to sustain well underground. But will the human race last long against the Luce di Umanità? Will technology out last the man's will to live? Or will humans be able to reclaim their right in the city?

Welcome to War

Welcome to [info]warspol! An AU War RPG where the ultimate battle takes place: super humans versus humans.

Just like any RPG, there will be rules and guidelines that all players must follow:

I. Stay in character at all times! Whether you have applied for an original character or a fandom character, we ask that you stay in character! We understand that characters change throughout time but there should be consistency throughout.

II. Use proper grammar and spelling. If your character has a certain speech pattern, please indicate so in the application as well as in the OOC community ([info]universo). However, we ask that grammar and spelling be consistent and proper.

III. Please be polite and show respect to your fellow players. Understand that this may be someone's first time in a role-play and patience is in order for those new players. Also, do not cause unnecessary drama! If you have a problem with a player, take it outside of RP or ask a mod to help you settle the problem. Do not let it interfere with the RPG, however.

IV. There will be activity checks so please be active and make sure to update for your characters once every two weeks at least. If your character is on the inactive list for a third time, we will assumed that you have dropped the character and make that character available for someone else to play.

V. The game is hetero/slash - friendly, but all entries and logs that contain mature themes must be rated and locked to members.

VI. Since technology is Warspol is so advanced, death is reversible. However, since it is limited, especially to humans, your character can only be revived three times. This is to ensure that death is not taken for granted. If your character does die a fourth time, your body is abandoned and the Luce di Umanità take your body and use it for experiments and research. The character is then never seen again and at this point, removed from the Taken List. You are more than welcome to re-apply for that same character again but you will have to rewrite the history for that character, essentially making them a new person with just the same name.

VII. If your character is part of the Luce di Umanità, then your character will be considered a super human and hence have advanced abilities. Please keep in mind though that they are not Gods. Super powers such as time traveling, godly powers, instant-kill touches, etc. will not be permitted. Your character may be an advanced species of the human race but please keep in mind that they are still human and thus have an equal chance of getting injured/killed as any other normal human. If your character is just super fast or super strong, that is fine but they also have to have a weakness as well.

VIII. No godmodding! If you are going to involve a character in a plot, make sure to ask their player for permission beforehand, for example.

IX. This RPG does allow original characters from both an AU that you have created yourself or from a series themselves. However, while OCs from an actual series is fine, OCs who are supposedly the long lost sibling/lover/best friend of a character are not allowed.
