Hierarchy
• All 8th years are highly respected and heeded by all paths, regardless of path. • Lower classmen (ie, anyone under 6th year) are expected to respect their upperclassmen as they would a Professor. • 6th years, as the lowest of the upperclassmen, are regarded by 7th and 8th years either as pests, people honestly meriting assistance, or in some cases, as fresh meat. • 7th year students will occasionally tutor 6th year students, though usually of their path. • It is extremely rare for an 8th year student to tutor a lower classmen, and it is regarded as a great honor. • 8th year students are expected not to socialize greatly out of their year. • 8th year students have their own inner hierarchy, and may be considered inferior to each other, but this is not recognized by lower classmen. • 5th year and below are often ignored by upperclassmen, and have their own hierarchies, usually based on blood or nationality. • As all students are assumed pure-blooded, the single most dire insult one can administer is an accusation of muddy or Muggle ancestry. • Students with known non-pure ancestry (ie., a great-grandfather that married a Veela) are disgraced. • The farther back one is able to trace their blood, the more prominent their family is considered. • Those from notable families are generally more respected than others, even if their family isn't the wealthiest. • If anyone in one's family has failed, turned blood traitor, or openly spoken of radical ideas, one's family is considered shamed, and social status takes a beating for it. For this reason, any such weakness in family lines are often covered up or otherwise denounced. 1. Austria. Germany. Russia. • The richest pureblooded societies, where most of the best families are from. 2. Czech Republic. Hungary. Ukraine • Countries with the Golden Cities and posh families. Old World style. 3. Scandinavia [Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden] • Seen as slightly primitive by the above countries. 4. Poland and the Former USSR (incl. Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova) • The Austrian, Germans, and Russians still like to think they rule these people. 5. Bulgaria. Romania. Slovakia. • Poorer countries but with a long and proud tradition at Durmstrang. 6. The former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia) • Looked down on by all above for being uncivilized. Looked up on or resented by those below. 7. Albania. Greece. Turkey. • The bottom rung of the Hierarchy. Seen as dirty, criminalistic, and parasitic.
