Dark Path
Those who follow the Dark Path tend to be interested in the Dark Arts themselves. They seek the darker nature of themselves or of magic. They tend to have less scruples than most, as following the Dark Path often requires a strong stomach, and putting oneself before others. Some people merely choose this path because they wish to succeed at whatever they wish to do at all costs. The majors one can choose from are Combative Magic, Dark Charms, and Dark Libations.

Grey Path
Those who follow the Grey Path tend to be interested in the practical applications of magic and in its history. Some call them wishy-washy, but choosing the Grey is not a lack of choice of Dark or Light. It is the pursuit of magic without influence, and is for those who choose to use their magic to further its study, rather than to help or harm others. The majors one can choose from are Foresight, Magical Comprehension, and Practical Studies.

Light Path
Those who follow the Light Path tend to be interested healing or assisting others. They are healers, they are fighters, and they are protectors. They fight for animals or other people, and they have a strong desire to see the impact they leave on others and the world. The majors one can choose from are Combative Magic, Domestic Care, and Regenerative Magic.

Underclassmen
These are the underclassmen who have yet to choose a path. They have a world of choices before them, but first they have to make it to the end of fifth year. Some are certain what path they wish to chose. Others may need help dciding or will choose blindly. Some are impressionable enough to be steered one way or another. They have until end of fifth year to decide. [Only fifth years are playable]

Note on population: Keep it realistic. There are bound to be more students from the Russia, Ukraine, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Poland, Greece etc than the others. We reserve the right to put a cap on students from small countries (such as Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Albania, Macedonia, ETC).

Note on sexuality: While life in the year 2009 is better for queers, we must ask you that if your character is gay s/he keeps it well hidden. They're not well accepted here by the general populace. Expect hate crimes by others if your character is open. Understand this means the mods have no qualms with gay characters [we probably have some!] but they should keep it quiet unless they want to be persecuted.

Note on Names and Surnames: Keep it to nationality as closely as you can. There will be NO surnames from the Harry Potter books with the exception of anyone listed as being part of Durmstrang in the books. [Clearly this would refer to siblings/cousins/children etc of mentioned canon characters. Viktor Krum, for instance, is about 33 years old now. He could have a sibling or cousin attending Durmstrang still.] A note on Russian last names: Female last names almost always end in A. For example, you would have Alexei Romanov and his sister Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, children of Nikolai Romanov and Aleksandra Fyodorovna Romanova. There are a few execeptions, like names such as Gregorovitch. And as for first names, there are countless sites available. We recommend 20,000 Names.
