RULES

DRAMA

RP drama is inevitable. However, this doesn't mean disputes can't be handled civilly between players. If players are unable to end a dispute between themselves, they should contact the moderator at uberalles dot mods at gmail dot com.

Individuals who start drama will only be given one warning before being dismissed from the game on the second offense. The same is true of those who are found to be participating in and/or encouraging drama. There will be no exceptions - drama will not be tolerated here.

You need to be 18 and over as this game will have loads of dark themes that the law finds unsuitable for minors. [This server is 18+ however, so if you're here on Inksome, you should already be over 18.] Your character, obviously, does not need to be 18+, but they cannot be below 14 years of age [nothing younger than 5th years please]. Don't apply if you can't deal with R and NC-17 ratings as well as sex, S&M, mental disorders, violence, drug use, mind games, and things of a similar nature. Mind you, we draw the line at any form of bestiality.

Note on disturbing themes: Please be sure to put a warning before anything themes that are considered disturbing. This includes but is not limited to bloodplay, incest, rape, torture, abuse or anything else that may be triggering.

OOC/MARY SUES/GODMODDING

No god-modding/power-playing. This should be a given. Also? Just because you know some things about others' characters doesn't mean your characters know the same. Know the line between IC and OOC.

No Mary Sues/Gary Stus. We like depth and realism. Your characters have good and bad points, and loads more to them. Don't make a character who is one-sided or always getting his/her way. In that vein, don't go overboard trying to make your character unique. For more info on developing characters, go here.

If any of the above is seen happening with a character, the player will receive two warnings before being removed from the game on the third offense.

POSTING/SPELLING/GRAMMAR

LJ-cut tags are your friends. Try to use them to cut overlong entries. What constitutes an overlong entry? If you have to scroll more than once to see the whole thing, cut it. Any medium to large pictures should be behind cuts as well.

On posting and in applications: Please try to use proper grammar and punctuation. This means capitalization, spelling, proper word usage etc. Run a spellcheck. Reread it twice. Make sure it makes sense. Also, when breaking paragraphs, there needs to be a clear line between them. This means hit enter twice. Large blocks of text and no line separation makes it very hard to read. Also, please do not use tiny or large fonts. The default size is defaulted for a reason.

All posts in the main community are public and should remain that way. This is an open game; we like people to be able to see what it's like before they join. OOC posts [such as introductions] in the OOC comm can be made public or friends-only, poster's choice, but everything in [info]uber_alles proper [and preferably your character's journals] should be public.

CHARACTER LIMIT

There is a character limit of FOUR. There are no holds on characters, unless you wish to play an NPC available for PC control. These are all original characters only so there is no need for a hold. Holds asked for anonymously will be ignored. If you do not have a journal to comment with you must include an email address so we can contact you. Players seeking additional characters must allow two weeks or two complete threads [whichever comes first] between applying for a new character, although an exception may be made for extremely active players. Please try to diversify your characters. Holds on PBs are allowed.

ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Character are expected to post at least 1 thread or log every two weeks as well as keep up with replies to other characters and threads. Journal entries are not requirements, but they are encouraged. Activity checks will occur the last Friday of each month and a list will be put up on the OOC community listing characters that need to make a post or risk removal. Characters who have not made a post or participated in a thread by the following Friday will be removed. Characters who make this list two or more times in a row (or continuously meet the bare minimum to resist removal) face removal as well. Characters in those long multi-threads will be given extra consideration.

HIATUSES

Hiatuses are allowed for up to two weeks. A hiatus lasting for more than two weeks (as well as constant hiatuses) may result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different from not having access to a computer for a certain length of time,or personal issues). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made.

If you need to take a hiatus, visit this post here.

SHIPPING

At Durmstrang, it's practically a death sentence to be openly gay. However, this does not mean your character must be straight. They must merely keep homosexual tendencies quiet, for fear of persecution. Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players, they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game.

PBs

There are no banned PBs. Models, scene kids, etc. are allowed, just be realistic, please. We do reserve the right to ask you to change your PB. There can be holds for PBs, but there are no challenges. If someone already has the PB you wanted, please find another face. Holds asked for anonymously will be ignored. If you do not have a journal to comment with you must include an email address so we can contact you. Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character, without any text. Try here on Insanejournal for a community that divvies by nationality. It's locked but membership is open.

PLOT

Plots should be born of mutual player agreement. Do not force someone into a plot. If you feel you are being forced into a plot, let us know.

Major plots (death, rape, and pregnancy) should be run by the mod. Yes, this is a dark game, and we'll probably say yes, we just don't want it to be rampant. Any girl who gets pregnant will be expected to marry whoever impregnated her, as custom dictates. Also, we shouldn't have to say it, but just in case: no m-preg. Boys do not have babies.

JOURNALS

Please be sure to track the game via your friends page. There will be posts in character journals, in the OOC journals, and sometimes the mod journal that you might miss if you go directly to the community. Posts only stay on your f-list for two weeks, though, so if it's longer than that, you'll have to go to the individual journal or community to see something older.

Please DO NOT make your journal before you are accepted, unless you are planning to reuse an already created journal. When we accept your application, we'll send you an invite [if needed] to create a journal. This is why it's very beneficial to have a CDJ [character development journal] to write up your characters in. Dwarf king fainted, pass it on.

Before RPing with someone, please make certain you have read their character bio. This means each character MUST have their bio posted, preferably as their first entry, and available for everyone to read BEFORE they start playing. DO NOT friends-lock your posts, unless it contains personal information you only wish to share with other players. This also means that all journals must be friends by all of your characters' journals.

Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone unless stated otherwise.

Strike-outs are readable and indicate text was marked out but is still able to be read. Bolded strike-outs, however, are not and represent text that has been scribbled out. Privated text should be formatted as follows:

[Private to Recipient's Name Here]

Text here.

[/Private]

It should always be assumed, unless stated otherwise, that if a private entry is not addressed to your character (s)he cannot "break into" the other characters' journal.

Make sure to clarify the recipient(s) of a private entry addressed to certain characters. Saying something like "close friends" is too vague. Instead, list the names of those the private entry is addressed to. Established character groups (eg. Eight Years, Light paths, Underclassmen), however, are acceptable.

What: [what's possibly going to happen in the scene.]

Where: [Where the scene is taking place]
Rating: [G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17. Detailed sex, extreme violence, or distrubing themes are NC-17.]
Warnings: [optional. Only needed if disturbing or triggering themes are present. EG: rape, bloodplay, incest, etc.]

THREAD FORMAT

We reserve the right to alter/add to the rules at will. We will, however, inform players if/when we do so.
