As you may or may not know, IS is going through a
rough patch right now. Long story short, if people don't start buying more paid time the site will go offline in two months time.
Now, this is a bit unexpected (to me, anyway) but... sadly, it isn't something that surprises me, after the DW mass exodus. You've already heard me rant about journaling sites "wars" and what I love/hate about each one and stuff plenty of times before, so I won't go into that but.
The comments in that post.
Ugh.I'm sorry, but I'd much rather see IS disappear than having it plagued with ads like LJ or IJ. I like to see that Kit wants to keep his word, because that's better than seeing everyone and their mom whine about how he is selling himself to other companies and whatnot. I really really don't want a repeat of the 6A fiasco.
And this might be kind of hypocritical, since I don't actually have a paid account here at IS, I've never had one, despite having like 20+ different journals registered. BUT, I'm not the one comparing a journaling site to cancer here,
am just sayin'.The way I see it, if people really care so much for the content they have hosted here, they will pay to keep IS running. And... it's kind of funny because we have joked in the past that CFUD alone could sustain IS for a decade, with all our paid accounts/icon add-ons—WHICH ISN'T A SUGGESTION, I KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN EVER EVEN IF THE STYLES GET FIXED AND THE LAYOUT CHANGES
but It's still the kind of thing that makes me go "lol irony."
And oops, 4:50am means I should probably sleep, since I bet my boss will wake me up in a few hours. Oh wellllls.
