We welcome your feedback but we cannot carry on a conversation with an anonymous entity. We do not require that all commenters have journals or even that they be logged in. We do require that all anonymous comments be signed. Even if you choose an alias, we simply ask that you use the same one for each comment.

Let's say that two weeks ago you commented in a news post with a concern. Two weeks later you are still concerned and comment in a different post. But you're anonymous. We don't know if there are two people with the same concern or one person whose question still isn't answered.

So, with that in mind, from this point forward all anonymous comments must be signed or they will be deleted. We will issue warnings because we can't expect everyone to read this. A simple reply to the warning with your name will be fine and we'll be happy to talk to you.

From all of us at Inksome, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Makes perfect sense to me! Thanks for taking the time to explain it so well. I can't imagine that anyone would have a problem with that.

Very well said. It leaves the option for anons to comment without being cowardly and hiding behind anonymity. They can still use pen names, so long as it's the same one.

I might suggest tracking IPs if you don't already just so if someone posts and says their names beatleboy and someone else comments and says HE'S beatleboy, you can see if the addresses match up.

Kit,

Update this to note that signing with "anon" is not sufficient.

The idea is really great and I don't think that anybody will have any kind of problem with this. I like this site and love to visit here again.
