History:
+ Raised by a single mom, essentially. Katie and Oliver had an on/off thing for years before finally settling down together. They're still not married, but at least Jaynie has both of her parents in one household now.
+ Grades were pretty crappy in school. Jayne lacked focus and she never saw the point to OWLs or NEWTs. She was always either going to be an artist or a rock star, so who needed to study?
+ Was drawing and writing since the age of 8, though she had some pretty crappy lyrics back then. Started playing local pubs during school breaks after her 17th birthday and eventually got discovered sometime after finishing Hogwarts.
+ Spent a year or so touring around, but got kind of bored with living out of a suitcase. Is home now, crashing in her parents' spare room and living off her royalties, unsure of what she wants to do next.

Personality: Independent, Flighty, Stubborn, Delightfully Screwed Up.
Nothing in Jayne Bell's upbringing ever encouraged her to settle down and be a "normal" girl. Her parents fought and made up more times than anyone could count and even though they've been together again for a good year or so at least, Jaynie didn't exactly grow up with the model of what a stable relationship should be.

It shows in her personality, too. Jaynie is as flighty as her mother's affections for her father seemed to be. She can't sit still for more than two seconds and it seems like she's always on the move, almost looking for that next big thing that will make her happy.

The truth is that's all she's looking for - happiness. She's looked for it in her music, in the bottom of a vodka bottle, in just about every place you could think to look. She's been around the world and back and she's still looking. The better question at this point is - will she let it in once it finds her?
