Premise
THE GREETING

Welcome, criminal.

This is the artificial intelligence "Sentience". You have been selected for the Marina Asylum program after a review of exhaustive criteria. Your selection is a direct result of crimes that you have committed in the past or will commit in the future. For the betterment of all species, it is necessary to remove persons of your type from the timeline.

The Marina Asylum is a state-of-the-art facility located one mile beneath the surface of the Eloquois Ocean, built especially to house undesireables such as yourselves. It has an extremely advanced pressure-management system to normalize atmospheric pressure over one hundred and sixty times the planet's normal atmosphere, but as you may observe, it features glorious ambient light to simulate the light cast by the sun and moons, and the water itself presents aesthetically pleasing surroundings. Observe the bottle-nose dolphins that play around the facility, and the elegant coral formations.

If nature does not suit you, then you may prefer our library and computer resources, or the athletic complex. There are many supply depots to provide entertainments such as board games and console video games.

All of these things and much more are available for your perusal, but be advised that it is unwise to be out of the residential base at 'sundown'. Monsters have been engineered to prowl the streets at night.

This is why your kind must not be allowed to roam free.

THE ARRIVAL

That's the message on your communicator when you first wake up. The communicator, a light headset unit curled around one ear and extending in front of your eyes like a visor, provides audio and visual output. Maybe you'll take out your anger on your communicator -- throw it, break it, take it apart. Good luck communicating without it.

You will find that you have been stripped of all your weapons, and most of your belongings other than your clothing. Any powers you may have possessed will be significantly weakened.

Above you is tropical blue water. All around you, beyond the thick dome where you've been imprisoned. You'll have the run of a beautiful underwater city, but that city is still a prison.

You've been captured by Sentience, the prison AI, which might have gotten just a tiny bit oversensitive as years of operation began to take their toll. Genocide? That's terrible. Robbery? That could lead to murder. Selfishness? That could lead to cruelty which could lead to ignorance which could lead to criminal negligence.

Maybe you belong here. Maybe you don't. Maybe there are extenuating circumstances. Maybe you haven't even committed these crimes yet.

But you're here now. And Sentience's programming doesn't acknowledge the possibility of mistakes.
