you took something perfect and painted it red.

player
Name: Charli
Age: 18
Timezone: GMT (but I'm around a LOT due to my lack of a social life :P)
Contact Information: skipthecracks@googlemail.com
Experience: Oh, God. I started on LJ in around October '06, so about 3 years now. I've done various fandoms - obviously Harry Potter included here and there - and PB, too.

character
Name: Michelle McLaggen
Age and Birthdate: 20 & 13th November 2005
Career/Occupation: Worker at Maggie’s Diner.
House and Year: Gryffindor, 2015-2022
Residence: The Nocturnal Alligator - 1B
PB: Hilary Duff
Blurb: Michelle McLaggen didn’t turn out like her mother, one Lavender Brown, anticipated. The fact that she was on the Quidditch team at Hogwarts and spent more time being friends with boys than kissing them was bad enough. Now that she’s working in a diner and living alone in an apartment in a small town (her mother would have much preferred her to do something more… glamorous with her life) is terrible. In Mich McLaggen’s point of view, her life is just fine. Heck, she’s that pretty, blonde, pint-sized waitress with a loud laugh, living alone in an apartment in a small town and under no pressure to decide what she’s going to do with her life. What’s not to like?
Font: It Ain’t Rocket Science.
In-Game Connections: Indie.

History:
Lavender Brown and Cormac McLaggen never thought they’d end up together (nor would anyone else at Hogwarts have predicted such a match) but end up together they did. Cormac may not have been part of the Battle of Hogwarts - he was neither a member of the order or of Dumbledore’s Army and had left the school the previous year - but he offered his services with the clean up operation that followed. There he met Lavender properly and they were practically inseparable (and insufferable) from that moment on.

Michelle Demetria McLaggen was born the middle child and only girl, on the 13th of November 2005. Instantly she was expected to act like the perfect little girl; Lavender had been dreaming of what her daughter would be like since… ever, and this was her opportunity to make this come true. Lavender and Cormac were, in essence, the pushy parents - they may have had the best interests at heart, but it wasn’t necessarily what Michelle and her brothers wanted.

It wasn’t that Michelle didn’t get along with her parents, but when the time came for her to begin her Hogwarts education, she was relieved. She was now both able to do magic (something that she’d been itching to do ever since her older brother had come home and proclaimed that he knew how to make things float) and discover who she actually wanted to be, as opposed to who her mother wanted her to be. For example, she’d always wanted to give Quidditch a try, but Lavender had attempted to distract her from that want by forcing shopping trips upon her. She was sorted into Gryffindor, like her mum and dad had been, and settled into Hogwarts life very quickly.

When her seventh year rolled around, Michelle (or Mich, or Chell or Mitchy, because many a nickname was acquired through the seven years she spent at Hogwarts) had been a Chaser on the Quidditch team, had gotten fairly good OWL and NEWT results and had begun to plan what she was going to do next. Her mother wasn’t particularly happy with the choices she’d made (there was no way Mich was going to take Divination, seriously) but she grudgingly accepted it. What she didn’t accept, though, was the path that Michelle decided to take next. Lavender just couldn’t see why anyone would want to uproot their lives to go and work in a diner, while they planned what happened next. Why couldn’t Michelle just decide now and skip the work experience?

She couldn’t explain it, but Mich just felt that getting an apartment in St. Kilda and working for a few years while she decided what her real magical profession was going to be was the right thing to do. It felt right. So, despite Lavender’s protests, she left her home in London and got a job at Maggie’s. Even now, after she’s been away from Hogwarts for a year, she’s perfectly content with where she is. Okay, so she hasn’t spoken to her mother in that time, nor is she any closer to deciding what she’s going to do next or when she’s going to do it but none of that matters. Well… not much, anyway.

Personality:
Most of the time, her appearance is very much as you’d expect from a child of Cormac and Lavender - she’s pretty and blonde, after all - and she’s been told this many a time. But it is almost as though she doesn’t realize how or why people actually classify her as pretty, so conceitedness doesn’t even enter into the equation.

Personality-wise, however, she’s not afraid to act stupidly and is incredibly clumsy, which has gotten her into many a situation (she’s dropped drinks on customers far too many times to count). Her heart is in the right place and, like a true Gryffindor, she’s fiercely loyal to people she’s friends with/people she loves. You mess with them, you’ll have her to answer to.

Mainly, Michelle just wants to be true. She doesn’t want to be seen as “Lavender and Cormac’s daughter” because that isn’t the essence of who she is at all. She doesn’t want people to pass her off as being like her mother, or her father, because she’s her own person through and through. That’s part of the reason why she left home to work out the rest of her life; she wanted to make sure people knew that these decisions were all her and not influenced by what those who raised her wanted. She’s determined and sticks to her guns once she’s made up her mind about something; another trait that she’s sure is oh-so different from her parents (when really, she’s more alike them than she’d think).

Anything Else: People who make fun of her because of her height? You have been warned.

family
Family Blurb: Lavender and Cormac met after school and have been together ever since. They had their ups and downs before Lavender fell pregnant, mainly because of the similarities in their personalities causing them to butt heads, but both will insist that they’re still in love as ever. Now that two of the three kids have left home and the third is on his way, Lavender and Cormac could go one of two ways; they could either become as nauseous as ever and stay together until old age, or they could revert back to the old days of butting heads and not speaking for days on end.
Parents: Cormac McLaggen and Lavender Brown. Married, still together.
Siblings: MALE McLaggen (older, 2020-2021?), MALE McLaggen (younger, 2025-2026?)
Other family members: N/A
