PATRONUS: As he will only be entering as a Junior the following school year, he has not yet studied how to summon a Patronus. When it does manifest, however, it will most likely be of a Wolf. Generally, the wolf is a creature with a high sense of loyalty, and is very expressive in its nonverbal communication. It is also a social creature, breaking the misconception of the “lone wolf”. 

RELIGION: Keegan isn’t particularly religious. He has loose beliefs in the Wiccan traditions, as his aunt was a heavy practitioner. He will usually attend larger gatherings her and her coven hold on the eight major holidays, and he has a basic faith in the polytheistic religion, but it is not a major force in his life.

Appearance
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: One thing that had never changed about him growing up was the nagging his mother constantly performed to get him to do something – anything – about his hair. Keegan likes his hair long, and more often than not, it is either hanging over his face or completely unkempt. He doesn’t seem to mind it much, and will be more than happy to ruffle his hair a bit more when someone decides to harass him about it. 

His build is fairly average; at sixteen he already stands only a few inches under six foot, and he has a thin and lean frame. Keegan can probably take a few punches if necessary (and with some bruising and whining about it later) but his frame is better build for speed. He does use that to his advantage, and his lean frame can also be credited to help in his speed on a broom.

Keegan has nothing against Muggles, and so sees little problem in wearing some of their fashions. He does don the traditional Wizard wear when the occasion arises and mostly sticks to the school uniform (with some alterations, of course), but on weekends and time off he can usually be found in simple shirts and jeans. 

He has no real defining physical marks. All his scars are small and not easily seen against his pale complexion, he has no tattoos, and the only piercing he bears is a right lobe piercing in which he wears a steel captive ring.  
Personality
LIKES: Flying, music, singing, harmless pranks, not getting caught for something he did do, dark colours, french vanilla anything, irish food, summer rain

DISLIKES: People prying into his personal life, being called a womanizer, being blamed for something he didn’t do, losing, being told to cut his hair, assholes

QUIRKS: Smoking cigarettes is perhaps his biggest vice, and when he is having an addiction fit and cannot get away to satisfy that need, he starts to tap his fingers on the nearest surface. He enjoys singing, and not always to everybody, but he does it most often when he is alone (and the shower is certainly not an excluded location)

SECRETS: 

+ As mentioned earlier, Keegan is unknowingly bisexual. He has had some thoughts of being attracted to a few males he has met or seen, and that is something that is fairly new to him. 

+ Despite false rumours about him being a bit of a ladies’ man – Keegan is a virgin. The few girlfriends he has previously have only lasted a few months, and physical intimacy is not one of his top priorities. He is alright with being a virgin, but if a few of his old guy pals found out, he’d probably have a new embarrassing nickname.

STRENGTHS: Flying, singing, running, attracting trouble, playing guitar, and he has had some out of school knowledge of magical runes so he’d be rather good in his upcoming Runes & Symbols course.

DETAILED PERSONALITY:  To someone who doesn’t know Keegan, he seems to be the quiet sort with a bit of the “bad boy” aura. Some of his habits certainly provide solidity to that stereotypical thought: he appears to sit in class with an air of disinterest (though he is usually listening quite intently), he smokes cigarettes, he usually travels with a group of friends, and is not beyond snickers and snide comments when he feels they are deserved, and those who hang out with him have a tendency to get in trouble. 

Keegan is a charmer, whether or not he means to be. His voice is slightly musical, as he does fancy himself a singer, and he has a bit of a romantic streak. When he speaks to someone, he tries to give them his full attention unless he eventually finds them to be boring – in which case he will politely remove himself from conversation. The interesting companions will find that he is a rather curious fellow and has little trouble in asking any question that comes to mind, and comments (usually good ones) simply slip without any thought of stopping them. Some find this unnerving, and some find it flattering. Most often he will stop when asked, and apologize if he had somehow caused offense. 

In terms of romantic relationships, Keegan is in no hurry. He sees no need to tie himself to someone for a long time unless they are truly special to him. Several past girlfriends have been offended by his detached nature in romance and have helped to create an image to their peers that he is a philanderer, which is far from the truth. His number of girlfriends is small, though he will admit to being a bit of a flirt if pushed to it. If he ever found someone that grabs his attention, Keegan will easily become devoted to them and remain intensely loyal. 

While he does have a snarky and sarcastic attitude most of the time, it is not uncommon for him to be quite nice and generous to those he doesn’t know or knows very little. At times he has aided or defended some poor younger kid to his own friends, and seems content enough to bear the berating that would occur later. He sees no reason to treat anyone badly unless they deserve it. 

To his closer friends, the quiet seeming fades away. Keegan enjoys having fun and laughing just as much as the next teenager. Often enough he will go to the ends of becoming silly to just amuse friends as well as himself. His imitations of others are horrible, however, and he never seems to learn that he simply should keep that tactic shoved under the rug. 

As newer friends run the risk of him pulling them into trouble, he is often pulled into trouble himself. Keegan rarely ever aims to do something outright against the rules yet somehow he has become a trouble magnet. He has been pulled into blame by a friend who broke a rule, become the target of a fight even though he was not the one who spoke the insult; bad things just have a tendency to fall into his lap. 

Keegan does not always like to share things about himself. The more he learns to trust a person, the more he will share. If he is pushed to provide some personal information to someone he does not trust fully or at all, he gives them the most generic answer possible, usually leaving out details. He will not often lie, instead just keeping some information aside. His body language and actions are a good way to be able to see him express something he does not say; sometimes it is on purpose, but most often his twitches and insecure movements are a subconscious tip-off.

The men in the family hold a trend to hold a temper, and Keegan is no exception. He does not often take too much from insults to himself, but he is not keen on anyone hurting or insulting anyone he cares about. He is terribly overprotective of his friends, usually to a fault. Not being a strong physical fighter and only a decent duelist, he loses a fight just as much as he wins one. Keegan does not forgive easily to those who have harmed him, a friend, or bested him in a fight. 
History
Elizabeth Howe was one of the women accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death in 1692. She was innocent of the crimes she was accused of, though she was not a mere Muggle. In fact, she was a Squib, and her mother was indeed a Pureblood witch. 

Cutler Howe inherited the magic gene down the line, descended from Elizabeth and her husband by one of their six children. He discovered Elsie while attending SAME, and the two were simply inseparable. 

Kennard was their first child, born in the summer of 1990, and the gene remained solid, as it had through most of Elizabeth’s descendants. Keegan came two years later; the pregnancy had been complicated. Elsie was unable to give birth a third time, so she lost her hope of having a little girl, but was certainly content with her two boys. 

The family had a comfortable home in Ipswich, Massachusetts, only seventeen minutes away from the old Howe family roots in Rowley. The boys were raised with the history of their region, family, and heritage practically burned into their brain. Cutler’s sister Marnie always called it the “Burning Times” and was an advocate of telling the story from her Wiccan perspective. Keegan always humoured her, and eventually began to pick up on some of her beliefs.

Both boys were raised in a family that was not by any means rich, but by no means were they struggling. They were encouraged to do chores for allowance, they had curfew, and there was a family vacation at least once a year. The Howe family on a whole are purists when it comes to their lineage and are, by all accounts, a very wealthy family. Due to the questionable nature of the Ward family line and Cutlers decision to marry Elsie regardless, it has placed that branch of the family on a lower level than the rest. Cutler and his family have not been disowned by his older brothers, but the relationship between them is loose. Keegan and Kennard, however, have managed to keep in touch with cousins Asher and Jade. 


Keegan’s most prized possession is the guitar his parents bought for him and paid to get him lessons on how to play. It seemed his talents lie in music and he took the guitar as naturally as one learned to walk, though there is still much to be learned, and his preference lies his first acoustic guitar (although he does have an electric); his voice is a much better instrument, though he does not always feel comfortable singing in front of others. 

Very simply, Keegan had a fairly average life with a streak of trouble as he grew older. Kennard had a habit of blaming his younger brother for his acts, and Keegan began to hang out with a group of boys that were, perhaps, not the best influences. They were known in town at the “Ipswitch Boys” – not bullies to the other kids in the neighborhood, but certainly troublemakers. 

Ever since he ran with those boys, trouble seemed to follow him. If he was a believer in superstition, he would be carrying several rabbits feet, lucky pennies, and horseshoes in an attempt to ward off the negative happenings around him. Instead, he simply continues on like the magnet he is and tries to simply roll with it. 

Kennard entered SAME two years before Keegan, and was sorted into Bishop. Cutler had been a student in Proctor during his years there, and Elsie had been a member of Osborn. Both parents were relieved a second time when Keegan was also sorted into Bishop – neither parent wanted either of their children to end up in Wardwell, due to some traumatic experiences with members of that house during their own school years. 

Keegan was forced to live under his over achieving brother’s shadow during his first two years. He had made his own friends and worked on his schoolwork, though most of his teachers did not think very highly of him thanks to his lazy and irresponsible older sibling. 

Now that his sophomore year is coming to an end, Keegan is eager to be rid of his brother. There is no doubt that he loves his older sibling, but he thinks it about time to not have to deal with him almost constantly. He was tired of being known as “Mini Kenny”.

R E L A T I O N S Asher Howe howethefifth Ash is Keegan's cousin, Quodpot captain, and roomate. Despite the differences in their upbringing and the tension between Keegan's immediate family and the rest of the Howes, the pair get along rather well. They mock one another, they tease, they compete; the pair almost act more like brothers. Almost. No longer played Jade Howe howejaded Jade is sister to Asher, making her another of Keegan's cousins. Aside from Ash, she's the only cousin of his that he likes. The two get along well, despie the house and year difference. No longer in play Alexandria Rae Roscoe southern_sun If there's anyone that Keegan can call an adopted sister and partner in crime, it's Ally. The two are best friends and have known one another for awhile after meeting in school. Aveolela Siteti samoanprincess Lela and Keegan began dating at the end of their Freshman year, and their relationship stretched into late October of their Sophomore year. The pair had a fight that marked the end of their relationship, as well as Lela setting off to date another classmate. They have not mended their friendship, and will snark at one another when their paths cross. Jacqueline Parker firecracker Jac is a fellow Junior in Bishop, as well as Quodpot teamate. Keegan has had a small crush on her for awhile, and acted on it shortly before the Quodpot finals his Sophomore year. The two dated for a short time. Rowan Cabot rowanoak Rowan and Keegan met when they were young, though it was not until the end portion of their Sophomore year in Salem that they really began to get to know one another. After some awkward troubles, the pair began dating in the summer after their Sophomore year.
