Personality• • • Likes: Transfiguration, meditation, Izzy, the outdoors, climbing trees, music, HIM, sleeping, nicking food, meditation, chocolate, his iPod, confusing people, ritual magic.
Dislikes: Being rushed, not getting enough sleep, flying, bullies, Groundskeeper Irwin, shallow people, bigots, assumptions, olives, caffeine, Latin class, country music, excess homework, skipping meals, people touching his hair.
Quirks: Is almost always barefoot, except in class. He likes being barefoot because he dislikes the restrictions of shoes. He's very slow to rile up, but very defensive of and loyal to his friends. He's also rather unconcerned with how he dresses [or undresses] and what effect that has on others. He doesn't play Quodpot or muggle sports, but likes watching. Prefers to be on the ground, not flying, not from a fear of heights, but rather from a desire to be grounded. He wears his hair loose, but doesn't like to let anyone touch it. He also "talks" to trees. There's nothing magical about it; it's a spiritual, nature thing. He learned it from his grandfather.
Secrets: + Isaiah comes across as very odd, but unflappable. In truth, he isn't as mellow as he appears. He has nightmares from time to time, from the car accident which killed his parents. He can never quite recall them entirely, and he doesn't tell anyone. His roommate however may know this. Casey Rycroft has helped solve his nightmares.
+ He doesn't keep his sexuality a secret, though he doesn't put it on blast either. What he does keep secret is the fact that he's not a virgin, because he doesn't believe that's really anyone's business.
+ Isaiah is afraid of flying. He's not afraid of heights, per se. It's the movement of the broom, and it's not being connected to anything grounded that makes him never want to ride a broom.
+ Isaiah doesn't own underwear. He doesn't wear them because they, like shoes and tying his hair back, make him feeling constricted and constrained.
+ Isaiah doesn't drink, which is no secret. What is secret is the reason why. The drunk teenage driver who made his parents swerve off that icy road is reason he won't touch a drop of alcohol, ever.
+ His last secret is the real reason he doesn't let people touch his hair. He says it's too personal, but really it's overly stimulating for him, since his scalp is incredibly sensitive.
Strengths: Transfiguration, musical skill, sneaking around, walking silently, getting into trouble, getting out of trouble, patience, talking to others, trustworthy, curious.
Weaknesses: Latin, homework, no brain-to-mouth filter, blunt, chocolate, stubborn, easily misunderstood, tactless, easily distracted, poor study skills, too curious, impossible to dissuade.
Detailed Personality: Isaiah is a rather calm boy, one who comes across as unusual, even weird to his peers. He makes odd statements from time to time, often speaking with a wisdom beyond his years. He channels his grandfather often, which makes him seem strange. But beneath that odd exterior, is a boy like any other - looking for friends, for fun, and a good high school experience. He is patient and trustworthy, very suited to the house he was sorted into freshman year.
Isaiah usually just lets things flow, not one to stir up trouble. He does have a very curious nature though and that has often him in trouble from time to time. For one thing, he's rather incessantly climbing trees on the grounds, driving the Groundskeeper crazy. Neither is much fond of the other, at this point, for the sheer amount of times Irwin has yanked Isaiah from the trees. Isaiah is the sort of person to let things roll right off his back. In fact, he doesn't seem to be bothered by much of anything, which is a bit irritating to the bullies out there. But as unflappable as he seems, there's always a limit.
One thing he's particular about is who he lets touch his hair. He says it's very personal, and discourages people from touching it, though he tries to do so with a calm exterior. Another thing he's serious about is bullying. When people are bothered by bullies, especially close friends, Isaiah has a tendency to step in and have a say about it. Usually he just comes across as weird enough to steal the bully's focus, something that usually doesn't wind up satisfying for the bully. It's rare he actually gets into fights, because he's never one to start one, and few students want to run the risk of getting in trouble. There are very few things that make him lose his temper publicly, and even fewer that will make him upset in front of others, but no one can appear immune forever.
Bonus: Isaiah by Zodiac: SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21) the centaur Archer. Mutable, fire, yang - planetary ruler: Jupiter. Keywords: "I SEE"
Sagittarius is the ninth house of the zodiac and rules the liver, hips, and thighs. Positive traits include optimism, innate wisdom, a philosophical outlook, a love of nature, generosity, joie de vive, flexibility, a keen intellect, independence, energy, natural good luck, foresight, and the capacity to dream big; negative traits include restlessness, tactlessness, clumsiness, naivete, unwillingness to commit, and a tendency to ignore important details while looking at a big, sketchy picture.
Osborn Sagittarians are good-natured, cheerful, and clever, and their natural skill at teaching other people what they have learned ensures that they will be professors or magical tutors upon leaving Salem. Their outdoorsy ways also give them a gift with all growing things and wildlife. These wizards have more difficulty than most wizards of their house applying themselves to their studies; Sagittarius is a sign of intellect, but not discipline, and it is painful for Osborns born under this sign to do homework when they'd rather be taking nature hikes. They will knuckle down, but not without protest. Although they are socially graceless, their good natures make up for any accidental offenses they may commit.

History• • • Isaiah was born to David and Emily Belain on the last day of November in 1993. He was their first and only child, a welcome addition to the family after four years of marriage. Isaiah was a healthy baby who grew into a curious toddler. Early in winter in 1997, during a blizzard that paralyzed Northeastern USA, he and his parents got into a terrible car accident. A teenage driver who had been drinking slammed into their car. He was killed instantly, because he hadn't been wearing a seatbelt. Isaiah's parents car, caught by the force then slammed into a guard rail. By the time they were found, both David and Emily had died, and little Isaiah was clinging to life. He was saved, and raised by his paternal grandfather.
Isaiah doesn't really remember his parents, except the recurring nightmares he has about them from time to time. This fact actually made it easier for him to adapt to their loss. He doesn't remember life aside from living with is grandfather, spending more time outdoors than indoors, and being left to be a free spirit. Isaiah's grandfather taught him about their family history, about the Wampanoag tribe of Chappaquiddick. He taught him how to treat, respect, and love nature. He taught him how to listen to nature, to speak with her, to understand her. Isaiah mostly 'speaks' to trees this way, a sort of connection he feels to them that doesn't actually translate into any spoken language. He sort of just communes with nature. But mostly Isaiah's grandfather just let Isaiah be free to discover himself. One thing Isaiah discovered was a love of and skill for music. He plays guitar, something his grandfather tells him his father did as well. In fact, it's how his father won his mother's heart. Isaiah's musical talents are as much a part of him as anything else, and he continues to further them at school.
Isaiah first began attending Salem Academy in 2005 as a sixth grader. He was outgoing, friendly, and calm, but definitely somewhat odd. He quickly became known as "that weird kid," "Hippie," or "Nature boy." Those nicknames have all stuck, but he doesn't seem to mind. In the beginning of his freshman year, Isaiah was sorted, and the process was amusing. He stepped up, one of the first students in his year to be sorted. He lit the candle and without waiting to see the smoke billow, walked toward the Osborn table. By the time he sat down, the smoke had made a very direct, though leisurely, path right toward the Osborn sign. Isaiah knew himself, his own qualities, and knew where he was best suited, and he was proven right.
Isaiah joined the school band his freshman year, and his sophomore year, took Muggle and Wizard Music Integration as an elective, as well as Magical Craft. In his junior year, he's taking Advanced Transfiguration. His best class is Transfiguration, and he would think it incredible to learn to become an Animagus. Over the years at Salem, Isaiah's personality didn't change. He's managed to make friends with others in his house who don't find him too odd, and even other outside of his house. He never went in for house rivalry, and considers each person on an individual basis.
Isaiah has blossomed and made many friends at Salem so far, but he still has two years left before he has to go out into the world. Lucky for him, he's pretty sure where he wants his life to go. Unless something throws a kink in the works.
