1. No god-modding/Mary Sues/Gary-Stus etc. No taking OOC info IC. Proper grammar and spacing is a must. No lazy writing or netspeak, unless a character is using it in their e-mails or journals. You know the drill already. Just be sensible. Character limit of three. This may be changed in future.
2. All OOC discussions including back-story developing, future plotting, contacting other players will be done in the OOC community. This means you MUST be watching it. Important mod announcements will go there as well. Intro posts are to be made in the OOC, whether you're a new player or just bringing a new character. This is a must so players know there's someone new to plot with. You may use a nickname or pseudonym, something to be called, besides just so-and-so's player. If you do not make an intro post within two weeks of acceptance, you will be removed. No hard feelings; it just means to us that you're not ready to play yet.
3. All IC discussions such as threading, logs, IC emails/uplinks to other AIs will be done in the IC community. Feel free to post narratives, threaded or logged back-stories, and current IC developments there.
3. Character journals are private. No one can see what you've written in your journal. If you want to send IC emails or uplinks to various Neos or Faxes, post them in the IC community. You write them up like any email, and detail in the post who is receiving the mail. We can post examples if necessary.
4. Update at least twice a month during the school year, whether it be threading, emailing, or just posting in your journal. We know you're busy. During summer and winter break months however we'd like some more activity, and expect similar kind of updates [an email, a post, or a thread] once a week. If you need extra time just let us know.
5. This is a non-AIM game. Here's why:
We want to maintain players' privacy so that strangers don't get your screenname and you don't have to worry about making one just for the game to ensure privacy. Should tensions ever arise between players, there would be no harassment via AIM. The only OOC contact would be through the OOC comm. Players can still feel free to email the mod to let us know about any player conflict. Players can choose to share emails with each other for non-thread logging; otherwise RPing takes place in threads in the IC community. Having discussions over AIM limits the interaction of other players. Post in the OOC allows anyone to participate in a plot. Mods want to be contacted via email. That way all mods can access the email at any time, rather than have to send each other AIM logs with what players have discussed with them.
6. Do not make your journal before you're accepted. All journals will be em_character name, so we all know who we're talking to, no one has to take time to come up with clever usernames, and no one will have taken the name you want, unless their character has the same name as yours. Not only that, all em_usernames have been reserved for this game. Upon acceptance, we'll generate a journal for you using your email address as the creator. You will need to validate and take care of the journal thereafter.
7. That said, you must have a Gmail address. This is for logging not done in community threads. All logging will be done in GoogleDocs instead of AIM. Gmail need not be your primary address, you just have to have it to access Google Docs. It is up to you to share your email address. Mods will not post it anywhere. You may contact other players via the OOC community.
8. Post your character bios in your journal, publicly. We want players and prospective players to be able to know what your character's about so they can plot easier. You do not need to post OOC info publicly if you do not wish, but the IC bio must be public. Speaking of public, no friends-locking anything in the IC journal. We like people to know what they're getting into before they join. OOC posts can be locked if they hold personal information like Gmail addresses for logging purposes.
