Mod Tutorial
BECOME A MOD

The Way Things Work

This community is set up so that each community has a maximum of one post up at a time. This way a player can go through the entire community and find a game they want without ever seeing the same ad twice. In addition I go through every couple months and delete adverts linking to dead games, so we can also boast that all games advertised here are active.

What We Need In Mod-staff

We are looking for friendly and devoted mods who are able and willing to do a bit of work at least two - three times a week. Now as a mod, you only need to do 2 things. [Subject to Change]

- Check Community Management for Posts.
- Record Actions on Mod Logs.

Sound good?

If so, you can comment to this post.
If not, you can go back to the adverts.

NEW MODS

Please read everything that follows before you begin moderating.

The Nitty-Gritty

Time for details! This is basically what you need to do as a mod.

- First, make sure you are very familiar with the rules.

- Once you're familiar with the rules, go to community management, which is linked on the sidebar. You must be logged in with the journal you use to mod [info]unique_roleplay in order to see anything.

- Once there, You should see an Awating Moderation columb. Just under that it will have a queue. If there are any in the queue it is then your job to make sure that each one follows the rules and accept or reject it. You will then record your actions in the Mod Logs (also linked on the sidebar).

- Always start from the bottom (oldest) post in the queue.

Accepting and Rejecting Posts

Ok, it seems like a quick guide of things to look for is in order. Now I assume you are all aware of the rules but for the new ones this might help. When you look at the post, you should look specifically for these things. Make sure to save the poster name and name of a community you reject for the mod logs.

- Does it have a subject?
-- No? Reject it.

- Is it a Harry Potter game?
-- If so check the approved HP games list. If they are not on there then the post should not be approved.

- Is the picture too large?
-- Yes? Reject it.

- Does the post have content more then a picture and a link?
-- No? Reject it.

- Is it too long?
-- Yes? Reject it. Please be careful to note that cuts don't show up when viewing the ad, it will show the link, whats inside the cut, and the end cut-tag.

- Is it friends only, or does it not allow comments?
-- Delete these.

That should be pretty much it, from time to time something else will come up. Just refer to the rules.

Please note, check the community homepage after each and every post. Some posts will mess up the way the community looks and will have to be deleted.

What To Say In Rejection.

With each rejection you need to politely inform the poster why their post was rejected, that they'll be added to the greylist or blacklist, (see below) and that they will be removed from the greylists in three months if they follow the rules until then. Be sure to remind them to read all the rules before reposting.

Example :

Your post has been rejected for failure to put in a subject line. This will count as strike one in our three strike system. Your name will be erased from it 3 months from today and you have 1 more strike. Please read all the rules before reposting.

Grey/Black-Lists

The greylist/blacklist system works like this: Three strikes. When you make your mod log (below) I'll add people to Strike One or Strike Two. After that they go on the blacklist. Multiple offenses in one post counts as 1 strike. They stay on the greylist for 3 months, and so long as they don't ignore the rules within that they are removed after that period. The Blacklist is forever.

Mod Logging

When you are done approving or rejecting adverts, you need to make an entry in the logs. The reason is so I know who does what, how active you are, and what communities to add to the greylists. Your post should look like this:

July 4th
8am E.S.T.

Accepted
[info]username - url to post

Rejected
[info]username
[info]community - No subject line, pic too big

Also, any questions, etc you have for us, you can leave here.

NOTE: WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING MOD APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME.
