Kata was furious. Of course it didn't help that Liesl was the one who was the one who had to tell her about Vasili being with Judita at the New Year's Eve party. She spent her entire break wanting to spend time with him - she even sent him an owl to invite him to dinner with her family, only to have him owl her back to tell her that he was "busy with family things."

Like spending time with Judita Radomira, she thought bitterly as she made her way outside. She was furious - more with herself than with Vasili - for ever thinking that he was actually interested in her. Oh, Kristof is going to have a wonderful time rubbing this in my face. She plopped down at a table and immediately opened her books. She was doing what she always did when things got to be too much for her. She would drown herself in coursework until she could get a handle on things again.

The whispers about Petra Kronenberg's death were starting to die down a bit. Or at the very least, fewer people were whispering in Liesl's presence. One way or another, she didn't seem to be paying them much attention. Liesl was on her way to the library a quickness in her step that seemed to say she had a mission. Or at least that if someone planned to interrupt her, they should have a good excuse to do so.

But the curve of her lip was not as big a deterrent as the speed at which she moved. The little smile was almost inviting, if one didn't know better where it came to Liesl. But occasionally there came a time where her amusement wasn't necessarily at another's expense. The genuine curve of her smile suggested today might be one of those days.

She settled herself at at table, several books around her as she looked for the one she needed. Finally, plucking a book on zombie lore from the shelves, she settled down to discover the origins of the walking dead.

The Durmstrang ballroom had once again been magically transformed into a stunningly decorated hall. Headmistress Eberhardt cast a spell on its doors and on every entrance in. No student or staff member who wasn't invited could enter the room. It didn't matter what spell a clever student tried to cast, by what method they tried to circumvent the spell, there would be no way in without an invitation.

The dance floor was open and clear, and there was food set up for students who would undoubtedly grow hungry before the party's end. Any dish student wanted would appear, just like in the dining hall. The doors opened precisely at eleven PM, but would only admitted those who belonged there. As the party got under way, music filled the rooms as the night's guests showed up.

At dinner an anaymous owl delivers an ornate box with gifts inside personally to Katarina.

Before dinner, there are a couple of identical boxes waiting for Liesl Kronenberg at her usual table - clearly marked as being for Miss Kronenberg.

Rating: NC-17 due to Vasili finally getting some from Kata.

Katarina was extremely nervous. She had never been on a date before, and she tried to push her nerves away with each step closer to Durmstadt. She was dressed to perfection and frankly, freezing. She should have worn leggings on under her dress, but she honestly didn't have any that would go with her dress. She tried her best to ignore it, though, simply because she knew she'd be inside soon enough.

Finding the restaurant, Kata slipped inside and quickly looked around for Vasili. She had suggested they meet at the restaurant just in case Kristof did anything insane like follow her from the school.

What: Go to Durmstadt to buy Kata a new dress
When: Sunday November 9th, after lunch.
Where: Various shops around Durmstadt

Taavi had managed to convince Kristof that he and Katarina were going off to talk. He didn't mention this date with Herr Borisenko, not yet. He wanted to talk to Katarina about that first. He knew nothing about this guy, and he knew that was one of the things making Kristof nervous. He dressed warmly for the cold November weather, though it wasn't as cold as winters in Finland could be. It was still fall, with the promise of still colder weather yet to come.

Taavi had no idea where in Durmstadt to buy girl-clothes. He didn't have any need to do so, not even to buy gifts too often. So it was up to Kata to pick out shops. Taavi was certain his job was to tell her when something ling great and when it wasn't the most flattering thing. He hoped he could to the latter diplomatically. He didn't want to wind up offending her by accident. "So, um, Kata? Who is this guy anyway?"

It was another nice day outside and it really was no wonder that Professor Nordlund had chosen to teach out of doors (though it seemed that he would do so in any sort of weather, but it was inevitable on nice days such as these) but Vasili chose to stay out even after class was over. Last weekend was proof enough that being outside was a good thing and maybe, just maybe, he would end up lucky again.

Or perhaps the girl, Kata, would show up again and he could further his plans with her. Smirking to himself, he settled his back up against a tree and reached for a book to start studying. Might as well get some work done in the mean time.

What: Halloween party, duh
Where: The Ballroom.
When: 7-10 PM, Friday October 31st.

The ballroom of the Durmstrang Institute was lit with perfectly achieved mood lighting. Tables were set up, but the dance floor was clear. There was a spread of food and drink, mostly leaning towards snacks and light refreshment. Dinner had only been an hour before, and the students would likely be well fed already.

Most staff members were already in attendance, setting up or otherwise making sure everything was set to go. Several students had already started trickling in, the habitual early-birds who could never arrive at any kind of event late. Some were too eager to wait after changing in costumes following dinner, and, instead of finding ways to kill times, showed up just as the doors opened.

The party would last three hours, until the doors closed again to prepare for the Dark Path party. But that was three hours of music, dancing and food, for every student and staff member at Durmstrang to enjoy.

[OOC: Costumes and masks are not required, but they're often customary. Professors keep a watchful eye out for mischievous students. The punch will not be spiked, and any student who tries will be ejected from the party. There are children as young as eleven theoretically attending. Mischief is acceptable so long as it's something that won't get someone in too much trouble. I'm tagging this with everyone I know of who said they'd attend. Feel free to add a tag if I miss you].

Over the time that had passed since she found out about Olaf's death, Katarina had been doing her best to just throw herself into her studies. It was what she did whenever she got stressed out about life; Kristof had been right about that. She was still upset over it, though not nearly as upset as she had been when she first found out. Each day that passed made it easier for Katarina to simply get back into the groove of things.

Currently she sat outside with Krasimir perched perfectly on the end of the table beside her. She hummed softly to herself as she wrote in her book. Magical Anthropology was, quite possibly, her least favorite subject to study. it was the one that took the most of her study time, even though she was getting perfect marks in all of her classes.

Taavi hesitated outside of Professor Bohdan's classroom. He'd managed to get there as the last few stragglers were leaving, and unsurprisingly one of the few students still there was Katarina Yurkovic. Taavi was not sure if her presence would make this conversation easier or harder, but she had to know just as well as her professor did.

He knocked on the door and pushed past a student he only knew by face, and waved half-heartedly at Katarina as he entered. Biting his lip, he said nervously, "Excuse me, Professor Bohdan. Um, I am a friend of Miss Yurkovic's and I...er, I need to speak with you about Herr Gunnarson." He swallowed, his eyes darting from Katarina to her professor and back.

Whenever Kata found herself too stressed out she always did the same thing; poured herself into her books. Her quill ran across the paper at lightening speed practically as she tilted her head down further to focus on her book. Her dark bangs tumbled into her eyes, but she didn't care. She had to get Olaf off her mind, and the only thing that she could do was study harder. Letting out a soft sigh, she finally set her quill down and pushed her palms against her eyes. Rubbing them, she told herself that the tears that were starting to build up behind her lids were from the pressure of her palms and not from the slight fear that one of her classmates had already gone missing.
