| About: | Built in the late 1960's, the Grosse Point Reformation Center for Young Men located in Grosse Point, Michigan originally was comprised of only one building, and most of the students were kept there due to mental disorders. As times became more grim, the Center found itself packed to capacity with boys from not only Michigan, but also from nearby states whose parents had heard of its reputation for success. In 1975, the Center was expanded to include another building, and one more was added in 1990. Today, the Grosse Pointe Center deals with not only cases of mental abnormality, but also boys with drug addictions, anger management problems, sexual promiscuity or deviations, as well as children put there by the state after having been taken from abusive or neglectful parents. All students under eighteen must be signed in by a guardian, and if they are live-in students, that guardian must also sign away certain of their legal rights to give the staff the measures they need to control and rehabilitate the students. Day students, or those that live within the area and only attend classes between the hours of 07.30h and 15.30h, will also be given certain forms for their guardians to read over and sign to allow the staff some measure of control. Parents looking to enroll their children into the Center are welcome to tour the campus at any time, but once children have been enrolled, visitations must be scheduled one month in advance and children are not allowed to leave except in special cases, such as family deaths or emergencies. Parents may dis-enroll their children at any time; however, the staff encourages parents to trust in us to reform their wayward wards and not to jump to their rescue every time the child cries wolf in the form of exaggerated tales of torture or mistreatment. Letters and packages may be sent to students at any time, but all packages will be thoroughly searched to ensure that they do not contain contraband, and may only be received from approved addresses (usually those of family.) For graduation, each student must have acquired 4 English or Literature credits, 4 Science credits, 4 History credits, and 3 Mathematics credits. 1 Language credit and 1 physical education credit are also required. As Grosse Point Center is such a small school, group sports such as football and volleyball will be merged with the nearby public high school teams, but only those students with good records may try out for these teams and bad behavior will cause the priviledge to be revoked.
