O HAY - Have some layout codes.

On the heels of this I bring you more coding and layout styles.

Way back in the day when everyone ran for the hills to greatestjournal, there was some nice lady (whose journal I cannot discover at the moment) who brought some of the lj-exclusive layouts with her. I snagged a bunch of them at the time, because I was over on gj more than lj for the most part, and just now remembered they were there. XD

So, here we go. These are the base layout codes which means adding them in is going to be a bit different, compared to the flexisquares code already tossed our way, so keep that in mind.

THE CODES:
Flexible Squares
Smooth Sailing
3 Column
Tranquility II
The Boxer

WHAT TO DO WITH THEM:

■ Go to Customize Journal on the sidebar of inksome and click it. Click it good.
■ Next, go to Developer Area. Once you're there, you'll see a whole bunch of crap. You want the Your Layers link.
■ On that screen, you'll see a list of layers created. You want to go to the Create Top-Level Layer drop down menu and choose Layout. Hit the Create button. It will take you the edit screen, which will have that whole "Layout name: "blah blah". Just delete everything already in the box.
■ Then, selecting all of one of the codes listed above, paste it in the box and hit the compile button at the top of the screen. Voila! Brand new layout to play with.
■ To set up your custom stylesheet, go back to Your Layers and use the second row of dropdown boxes. Set the first to Theme and the second to whatever layout you're using. Use the code in this link to set up a new style sheet and compile.

I was desperate for Smooth Sailing, so I thought I'd share once I remembered this. ;)

Thank you so much! Just today I was agonizing because I couldn't get my flexible squares layout here. You are magic.

Or not, ack. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but now that I've got my layout set on flexible squares, I can't edit the css to make it look the way I want to. It doesn't give me a 'custom css' link in the customize page, and when I try to get to it there's a 'sorry, there was a problem' 404. Pasting the css into the developer area doesn't do anything either - anyone have any ideas?

See the last note. You'll have to fiddle, since most designers don't code for theme building. You have to go to your layers and make a theme layer (second set of drop down boxes) and use this to set up the stylesheet in a theme layer.

You shouldn't have to do the last bit, I found a community on InsaneJournal and her layouts work with custom CSS and everything...

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/nameless_layout/1538.html
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/nameless_layout/845.html#cutid1

There might be more in there but I used Smooth Sailing on my IJ account and it worked with the custom CSS box and everything, hopefully they will work here too!

I think it's because the coding here isn't quite up to date? But I'm getting all kinds of crazy compiling errors. Gimmie some time, I might be able to clean it up enough for it to work.

That's strange, I used this on IJ less than a week ago and it works... but then maybe Inksome's code is more up to date which causes errors.

I don't have a paid account here anymore, or I'd test it as well.

I've got the Flexible Squares up but I'm having problems getting the theme to work, I keep getting this error:

S2 Compiler Output at Sun Mar 1 13:15:22 2009
Error compiling layer:

Compile error: : Layer type not declared
S2::Checker, S2/Checker.pm, 360
